In The Meantime

I have been learning. Amy has kindly given me some guidance which led to me being able to spin a single that bordered on even. Then, on Saturday, she showed me how to ply two of them together. Sweet. I venture to say it almost looks like almost yarn. Much like in The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, where that beverage tasted almost exactly but nothing like tea. (I probably paraphrased that all wrong, but I'll be arsed if I'm going to go & look it up.)

It's from a roving from Louet, the colour is "Burning Bush" and yes, that is the main reason I bought it. I bought another one that is super pretty as well as some roving that Annie dyed. Plus I have a couple of other pretties lying around. But of course, I have to 'earn' the pretties. So I'm currently ruining some merino I bought a long time ago. I'm rather pleased with myself.

Still Here...

Moebius (MoeMoe) May 26, 1992 - June 4, 2008

Just missing a piece. We lost our beloved Moe on the 4th of June, his poor kidneys finally gave out. Please don't tell me he was old, trust me, I'm well aware of it. Although I'm completely unaware about why people think that's a comforting thing to hear. To me, it borders on dismissive. You wouldn't say that to someone about their grandmother, right?
We had a nice last day, we cuddled a lot & watched Wonderfalls together.

Action Shots

Enjoy:

Not a terribly huge deal, unless you take into account that my baby toe USED to line up with my other toes in the same direction. I'm off to the cheese shop now, I hope they've restocked the Lancashire...
Christ I have ugly feet!!

I am so smart. SMRT.

Yeah, if you look under klutz in the dictionary, you may find my photo. Wednesday night, The Boy was watching The Tick. I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth. The Tick said something bizarre, (really!?) and I went out to see what was going on. Then, I decided to get something from the kitchen. At this point, 2 things need to be kept in mind, 1) I am still brushing my teeth, and 2) I am in bare feet. I do own 2 pairs of slippers including a rather fetching pair of orange felted clogs so there really is no need for bare feet. Anyhoo, I continued onward, into the kitchen (no, I don't remember what I was going there for, probably cheese.) At this point, the corner of the doorway between the kitchen and the living room leapt out and inserted itself between the 4th & 5th toes on my foot. I was unaware of this, so I kept walking into the kichen, breaking my smallest toe in the process. That was good fun, because, you see, all I wanted to do was let loose with enough profanity to make a sailor blush. However, (remember from before?) I was brushing my teeth so I had a giant mouth full of foam. Hence, no profanity for me. Just a lot of doing this rather bizarre sort of loud exhaling with equally strange posturing on one leg. Now I have a blue foot and a crooked little toe to show for my efforts. Yeah... I'm not really sure what to do for an encore. I will post a picture of my blue foot soon, it's actually a rather pretty blue that used to have a nice red centre.

I had a surprise...

The Boy threw me a birthday party. It was great, he had my friends come over & we ate & it was jolly good fun. I had figured out that something was up, as I have one friend that always asks what's going on for my birthday & I didn't hear a word from her. I was extra impressed though. He found my knitting friends too, you see. So Marnie (& her Mama) came, so did Erin. Sara came as well and documented the entire event (I will share pictures later) and Sandra & Amy were even able to make time to come. Extra thanks to Sara who spent literally hours entertaining niece the 2nd and suffering through indignities including, but not limited to: having partially eaten vegetables deposited on her legs and various and sundry fridge magnets shoved up her shirt sleeves. Plus I had a Mr. Spock birthday cake which was the coolest thing EVER! The Boy also gave me a Rodney McKay action figure, which sadly, doesn't talk.
Thanks for coming everybody! I was incredibly spoiled on Sunday & it was far more than I deserve.
XOXOXOXO

Whew.

I took advantage of the crap that was today to finish this:

Moe took advantage of last week's nice weather to do what he does best:

That's his new fleece hoodie. I must keep him warm, you know. :-)

What a Miserable Night That Was...

It's our anniversary on Monday. The boy & I will have been married for 7 years. We usually don't do anything for our anniversary. Shit, we usually don't do anything anyway, anniversary or not! A pair of live wires. I knew he was plotting something, I had no idea what & was a tiny bit dubious. Especially when I heard that they offered (no idea if they still do) the opportunity to race your car at Race City. A factoid I have since decided to keep to myself. What he did, was actually really cool. I have shamelessly adored one Jeremy Hotz since I saw him on Just For Laughs a few years ago. I tried to find the clip that started the whole affair but I couldn't (it was the one where he's talking about the Friendly Giant. If you're Canadian, and my age, you know of who I speak. Friendly Giant was great.) Anyway here is my second favourite bit. The part at the end. Hee.

Anyway, the Boy surprised me with tickets to go see him. And kept it a secret. I got a shirt. He signed my shirt. Wicked. Proof that I was there: (In my "Dear Buddha, please bring me a pony and a plastic rocket" shirt) Yes Nathan, I have moved on...

The Boy is okay. :-)
